Leonid Ivanovich Rogozov

Leonid Ivanovich Rogozov was the only doctor who took part in a Soviet Antarctic Expedition in 1960-1961 and developed appendicitis while he was there, which meant he had to perform surgery on himself to remove his appendix. I feel like I should have an “In Soviet Russia” joke but this is just way too badass.
