Performance of Surgical Excision of HPV Infection Surgical excision is an effective treatment of large genital warts and SILs of the genital tract especially in refractory cases or extensive diseases. This process is feasibly conducted in outpatient surgical suite. In this procedure, scalpel, scissors, curette or knife of no. 15 blade is used to remove large lesions under general or regional anesthesia with 1% lidocaine. The incised skin is sutured by 1-2 sutures. After excising the lesion, a surgical specimen is delivered to the pathology lab for histopathological and microscopic analysis.
