What is the pathophysiology of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infectious mononucleosis (mono)?
Pathophysiology of Epstein Barr Virus When Epstein Barr Virus invades human body, B lymphocytes initiate cellular and humoral response to the virus. Natural killer cells and CD8+ cytotoxic T cells control proliferation of B lymphocytes infected with EBV. When humoral response is active, diagnostic tests reveal EBC structural proteins. When T-lymphocyte cellular response is active, clinical presentation is active.
