Indications for Prophylaxis with Antiviral Agents • Household contacts of a suspected or confirmed case who are at high risk of developing complications. • Individuals who traveled to Mexico who are at high risk of developing complications. • Students at schools who have been in contact with suspected or confirmed case. • Healthcare and public health workers who have been in contact with suspected or confirmed case. Only those individuals who are at high risk of contracting influenza and developing chronic complications are eligible for antiviral chemoprophylaxis. Resistance to Oseltamivir has been reported in past therefore, postexposure prophylaxis must not be used in healthy individuals and to control outbreaks in a community.
