AAP guidelines for the management of infants born to mothers with COVID-19 • Mothers diagnosed with COVID-19 infection can feed the infant with breast milk. It is necessary to ensure hand and breast hygiene. Here are breastfeeding guidelines for post hospital discharge for mothers or infants with suspected or confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. • Newborns must be bathed after birth to remove SARS-CoV-2 from their skin. • Newborns must undergo SARS-CoV-2 testing. First at 24 hours and next at 48 hours. • Newborns must continue a follow-up for 14 days after discharge. • After discharge, symptomatic mother must maintain a distance of 6 feet from her baby. In extreme urgency, the mother can come closer only when - Temperature is normal for 72 hours without antipyretic treatment - 1 week passes since the first onset of symptoms - Respiration is normal - 2 consecutive SARS-CoV-2 tests are normal
