Pancreatic divisum is the congenital anomaly of the pancreas characterized by failure of fusion of ventral and dorsal buds. As a result of non-fusion, the pancreatic contents are drained via separate ducts. The dorsal duct enters the duodenum via minor papilla; they majority of drainage occurs through this duct. The ventral duct drains a small portion of pancreas and it enters the duodenum via major papilla. The pancreatic divisum is often asymptomatic. However, in symptomatic cases, the individual presents with recurrent pancreatitis. The pancreatic divisum is not associated with cholangiocarcinoma.
