Cryosurgery for HPV Treatment Cryosurgery is an intelligent surgery which employs extremely cold temperature to excise abnormal tissues. The cold temperature is often obtained by the use of liquid nitrogen. Alternatives include carbon dioxide and argon. Cryosurgery is a good option for the treatment of simple HPV disease manifesting as most simple cutaneous warts and low-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. In this surgery, the intracellular water freezes causing cellular destruction. Side effects of cryosurgery include scabbing, discomfort and ulceration.
