CNS Involvement in Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) Infection • Immunocompromised individuals are more susceptible to develop nnuerological complications. • CNS involvement becomes apparent within 3 weeks off onset of rash. • CNS involvement effects bilaterally. • There is incidence of recurrence. • After resolution of chicken pox, VZV enters latent phase and resides in basal ganglia. It can reactivate in neurological conditions.
