This is the kind of damage an AK-47 can cause. This patient was shot in the right leg by an AK-47 assault rifle at close range. It looks as if the bullet(s) directly hit the proximal femur, shattering it in the process, spreading ballistic fragments throughout the soft-tissues of the thigh. This kind of damage will warrant a trip to the OR for an intramedullary rod for fracture fixation. Photo by @drcellini
