Knee joint is the biggest joint of the body. It is a weight bearing joint made of femur superiorly sitting on tibia. and covered by a small bone called patella. The joint has two c-shaped cartilages called meniscus (medial and lateral). The joint is stabilized by ligaments anteriorly and posteriorly which are in the shape of a cross providing more stability to the joint. Joint also has medial and lateral ligament providing resistance against opposite movements. Knee joint is involved in a myriad of abnormalities. It can get injured in sports, accidents, arthritis bursitis or falls. Knee joint injury presents as pain, swelling, tenderness and instability.
