Lipoma, also called fatty tumor, is a ball-like subcutaneous non-cancerous growth. This benign tumor occurs at sites where there are fat cells. The overgrowth of fat cells results into a lipoma which is soft and squishy. It grows overtime and usually reaches a size of 2 cm. In some cases it further grows to a size of 10 cm. Many people remove it for cosmetic concerns. The causes of lipoma are - Genetic influence - Adiposis dolorosa - Cowden Syndrome - Gardner’s Syndrome - Madelung’s Disease The symptoms of lipoma are - Soft and squishy round or oval-shaped structure - Usually painless, maybe painful sometimes - Colorless Lipoma is diagnosed by - Physical examination (Main) - Biopsy (To rule out cancer)
