When a badminton player in the United Kingdom misplaced her contact lens, she didn't think much of it. Doctors discovered the contact lens stuck in her eyelid over three decades later. After her left eyelid swelled and began to droop, the 42-year-old woman went to the eye doctor. She had a cyst in her eyelid, which was medically removed after tests identified it. The lost contact lens, however, was found inside the cyst. The woman had lost her lens when she was 14 years old, after she was hit in the eye with a shuttlecock while playing badminton. According to her doctors, the trauma caused the lens to migrate inside her left eyelid. A report of the woman's case was published Aug. 10 in the journal BMJ Case Reports.
