Whooping Cough

Pertusis or whoophing cough is a condition caused by Bortidella pertusis, gram negative bacilli rods. It produce symptoms such as fever, conjunctivity, rhinnorhea, vomitting mainly cough with mucus. It’s called whooping or barking cough because it prduces a whooping sound at the end of cough. It in common in certain parts of the world. For prevention: vaccine is available called DTaP. This vaccine is conjugated with Diphtheria and Tetanus toxoid. For treatment: azithromycin, clarithomycin, erthromycin and salbutamol to reduce symptoms.
