The Babinski Sign and its Significance

Babinski sign is an important clinical test that is done in order to evaluate the neurological problems and brain activity of the patients. In children, upward bending of the big toe and fanning of the rest of the toes indicate normal Babinski sign. In adults, normal Babinski sign is flexion of all toes. Abnormal Babinski sign may indicate a stroke, upper motor neuron lesion, cerebral palsy, meningitis, multiple sclerosis, and brain injury or tumor.
