Wenckebach Phenomenon / Mobitz Type I

Wenckebach Phenomenon / Mobitz Type I

Wenckebach phenomenon, also known as Mobitz type I or second-degree heart block, occurs due to reversible conduction which arises at the level of atrioventricular node. Due to the fatigue of cells in AV node, the beats are missed. The characteristic ECG findings are prolongation of PR interval. The PR interval between the missed beat is the longest whereas PR interval exactly after the missed beat is the shortest. The ratio of P waves and QRS complexes in case of Wenckebach syndrome is 3:2, 4:3 or 5:4. Reference: https://litfl.com/av-block-2nd-degree-mobitz-i-wenckebach-phenomenon/
