A psychological condition in which there is an urge to do repetitive actions (compulsions) and unwanted thoughts and sensation (obsessions).People with an OCD have habits that may take a lot of time in the day, beyond their control, aren’t enjoyable and interfere in normal life routine. This condition is divided into 4 types: checking (checking locks, switches or thinking you have disease when you don’t), contamination (thinking that everything is dirty and want to clean again and again), symmetry and ordering (the need to arrange things to perfection) and ruminations (an obsession with a line of thoughts).Causes of the conditions are unclear but are thought to include: stress, family history, depression, anxiety, trauma or abuse. Diagnosis is made by ruling out other causes. Treatment revolves around: psychotherapy, relaxation exercises and SSRIs use.
