Achalasia is an esophageal disorder characterized by impaired mobility of the esophagus along with the failure of relaxation of lower eaophageal sphincter. On X-ray imaging it appears as a tapering of the gastro-esophageal junction producing a bird’s beak or rat’s tail appearance.
