Monckeberg medial calcific sclerosis is a circumferential, diffuse calcifications in the media of small and medium sized arteries. There is no intimal thickening. The cause of Monckeberg medial calcific sclerosis is idiopathic. However, it may be associated with advanced age, chronic kidney disease, and diabetes mellitus.
