Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome

NMS is a condition that can arise rarely in patients taking antipsychotic medication. This life-threatening condition is manifested as fever, altered mental status, muscle rigidity, and autonomic dysfunction. This condition is treated by immediately stopping the causative agent and giving supportive care as well as some pharmacological treatment in certain cases.
