What is the rate of spinal surgery following epidural steroid injections (ESIs)?

According to the statistics of SPORT (Spine Patient Outcomes Research Trial), 56% in non-ESI group compared with 19% in the ESI group showed no difference in primary and secondary outcomes with 4 years interval in between. However, majority of the patients were switched to nonsurgical treatment.
