An arteriovenous malformation under a thermograph

An arteriovenous malformation under a thermograph

Thermal imaging is a noninvasive modality that neither requires intravenous contrast nor exposes the patient to ionizing radiation exposure. This technique may help visualize vascular malformations and monitor their progression/ response to treatment. Note that arteriovenous malformations are abnormal connections between an artery and a vein which bypasses the capillary bed. They are usually congenital and can be treated with injection sclerotherapy or surgical excision.
