Burr Hole Surgery is a neurosurgical procedure that is the main treatment for subdural haematomas that are subacute to chronic in nature. This procedure is performed by creating one or more small calibre holes through a drill into the skull then a flexible rubber tube is placed inside the holes for haematoma drainage. The tube placed is either removed in a short time or left in place for a few days to drain any residual blood and to reduce chances of haematoma recurrence.
