Pterygium is a pink fleshy, triangular growth of conjunctiva on the surface of eye. It is a painless and a slow growing condition most commonly seen on the medial surface of the eye. It consists of four parts: Head, Neck, Body and a cap. It is usually an asymptomatic condition but may end up causing vision defects like astigmatism and mechanical obstruction if the growth reaches the visual axis of cornea.
