Hypotension, or low blood pressure, is a condition in which blood pressure drops below 90/60. It is not a disease but a symptom associated with an underlying medical condition. The causes of Hypotension are - Nutritional deficiency - Standing for too long i.e. Neurally mediated hypotension - Anaphylaxis in response to medicines, foods or insect bites - Pregnancy - Mental and emotional distress - Physical distress - Pregnancy - Endocrine problems e.g. Menstruation - Prolonged bed rest - Chronic diseases The symptoms of Hypotension are - Dizziness - Lightheadedness - Syncope i.e. Fainting - Fatigue - Blur vision - Lack of focus and concentration - Cold and pale skin - Dehydration - Thirst - Shallow breathing
