Characteristic annular rash with central clearing and peripheral papules can be found. It is often itchy. The risk of rash increases in moist areas esp if they are not kept clean. They may also spread by close contact. Treatment involves topical antifungals and in some cases oral agents too. Drugs include terbinafine, topical azoles etc

Ringworm infection is a common fungal infection. It receives its name from the pattern of infection i.e. a ring. This infection is not caused by a worm. The causes of Ringworm infection are - Skin-to-skin contact of an infected individual - Animal-to-human contact e.g. cows, cats, dogs - Object-to-human contact e.g. bed linen, personal hygiene products, combs, nailcutters, shaving razors - Contact with infected soil - Weak immune system The symptoms of Ringworm infection are - Ring-like pattern on arms, legs, trunk or buttocks - Itching - Scaly rings - Small red pimple-like bumps surrounded by a ring - Overlapping rings The treatment of Ringworm infection includes - Anti-fungal lotions
