HZoster ophthalmic is has a small associated risk of a cerebral arthritis that can have significant complications. With better pain management modalities the risk of post herpetic neuralgia is less frequent than in the past, there have been cases where the chronic, severe case has lead patients to elect suicide as a difinitive treatment. Herpes zoster CAN cause significant morbidity and lead to loss of life. It can be more than a passing inconvenience
