Subdural Hematoma

Subdural Hematoma

This images depicts a craniotomy for the evacuation of a subdural hematoma. A subdural hematoma occurs when there is significant bleeding that occurs between the surface of the brain and the dura (outermost part of the meninges). Usually, a tearing of a bridging vein may cause significant bleeding leading to the hematoma shown above. Severe mass effect and pushing of the lateral ventricles can be seen on proper imaging.

What happens if the PT also suffers from a blood disorder(Factor V) and cannot go back on anti-coagulation meds for a period of time post-op and also suffers from DVT?
