Situs Inversus

Situs Inversus

Situs inversus is a congenital condition in which the major organs (liver, heart, stomach, spleen) are mirrored from the normal position. Only one person on 10.000 has this condition becasue it’s extremly rare. The cause is unknown, it is in fact an idiopathic condition usually hereditary. An individual can also live an entire life without realizing that they have situs inversus, but in other cases, most of them, this condition causes congenital heart disease that can be fatal.
