We present an interesting case of a lower lip epidermoid carcinoma, needing a complete lower lip excision and reconstruction using local skin flaps. A.)The first photo shows a 6-cm lower-lip epidermoid carcinoma before excision with outline of exeresis boundaries and of Bernard flap contours. B.)Second photo is after carcinoma excision and dissection of full-thickness flaps following Camille Bernard incisions. Two “neo-half-lips” are constructed using full-thickness cheek flaps. C.) Mucosal plasty by dissection under the accessory salivary glands, to reconstruct the vermilion. D.) Patient at the end of surgery after median-line suture of the 2 half-flaps. Suture is performed as usually for full-thickness lip suture in 3 layers: mucosa, muscle, superficial skin. The last two photos are showing the patient (E) at 10 days postoperatively and (F) at 1 year postoperatively. Credit: O. Malard, P. Corre, N. Durand et. al.
