Amputated Toes

It's not uncommon in pathology to receive multiple parts of the same patient throughout the week/month/year/years. In this case, the patient had a few toes amputated for gangrene, and it never healed. Then a half foot amputation was performed. The wound never healed and as you can see at the margin of the previous incision it is black indicating the tissue is not healthy. The next step was to amputate below the knee. If this does not heal well, they will amputate the remainder of the leg.
