A keloid results from the uncontrolled synthesis and excessive deposition of collagen at sites of previous dermal injury and wound repair. They can occur after local skin trauma or inflammatory skin reactions. A keloid extends beyond the border of the original wound and resembles a well-circumscribed pink to purple nodule or pseudotumor. It does not regress spontaneously. ■ Dysregulated collagen deposition at site of dermal injury ■ Tend to recur after excision; difficult to treat ■ Predilection for areas of increased tension ■ More common in Asians and dark-skinned peoples
Is it benign tumor ?also best treatment rather than surgery due to recurrence
Corticosteroid injection or cryotherapy or laser therapy
