can anyone explain what happened to the patient?A40 years old male known to have movement disorder in his medical history and therefore lying supine in bed most of the time. He was diagnosed to have thyroid disease that needs removal of the thyroid gland. Following thyroid surgery for him, it was noted that the patient frequently aspirated fluid into his lungs while swallowing. Upon examination it was determined that the area of the Smuggler’s pouch above the vocal fold of the larynx was numb with loss of the lengthening ability of the vocal folds.?
