DiGeorge syndrome

⏹A congenital aplasia or hypoplasia of the thymus caused by a missing gene on chromosome 22 and subsequent deficiency in T lymphocytes and cell_mediated immunity . Also characteristic are hypoparathyroidism (⬇⬇Ca+ causing tetany) and heart defects. ⏺Note: NO thymic shadow ❎on chest X-ray.
