hello all, i wanted to ask you what could be the complications after an untreated chlamydia? My cousin had symptoms that disappeared (burning feeling when he pees swelling of the penis and white/yellow liquid coming out).. I thought it was chlamydia ím not really sure he didn't do any test. and he think that he is healthy again. It is true? or even if symptoms disappeared the disease is still there? and what could it have done to his body? i heard about being sterile..
He most likely had an STI by your information, however, it could also be something else (gonorrhea). I would tell him that you feel that it is irresponsible of him not to get tested and treated as he could infect his partners, even though he doesn’t say to have symptoms now. I don’t recall either chlamydia or gonorrhea being self limiting, thus he will still carry the mircobe. As for the sterility: in men chlamydia can give a transient sterility. In women however, the scarring in the Fallopian tubes can cause permanent sterility and this is one of the main reasons for interventions when women are unsuccessful in getting pregnant.
