This image shows the 𝐂𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐚, as seen through a florescent electron microscope. •Cochlea: Cochlea is the snail-shaped structure in the inner ear coiled around the modiolus, where sound vibrations are converted into nerve impulses by the organ of Corti. Ending a 40-year quest, scientists at Harvard medical school have identified a hearing protein, a critical molecular sensor that converts sound and motion into electrical signals that the brain can sence and understand. Isn't this so awesome?
