Enlarged tonsil

Patient had mono 2.5 years ago, tonsils swelled up and never went back to normal. Now one tonsil has been enlarged for 2 months. Patient is a social smoker. Throat constantly looks irritated. Has had a throat related sickness 4 times in the past 2 months. 9.1 x10E3/uL WBC. 5.22 x10E6/uL. Any ideas? Should they get a tonsillectomy
