This unlucky factory worker lost his hand when a machine he was operating crushed it and ripped it off. He was rushed to the hospital where surgeons stopped the bleeding in his wrist and preserved the hand. But the limb could not be reattached immediately due to extensive tissue damage so it was transplanted to his left leg just below the calf. The hand was held in place for just over a month and successfully recovered enough for surgeons to reattach it back, after which the patient lived with a large steel frame protruding from his limb. The device kept his bones and tendons realigned in place over the seven months since his 8-hour surgery, until removed for good.
