Oral Maxillary Exostosis

Oral Maxillary Exostosis

A 73-year-old woman presented with mouth dryness and tongue soreness. The oral cavity of the patient was dry, and Candida albicans was detected on culture. On examination of the upper jaw, firm protrusions of the alveolar bone were noted. Oral exostosis, a benign overgrowth of bone, was diagnosed. In this patient, oral exostosis had been present since childhood without any disturbance in her daily life and was an incidental finding. Her presenting symptoms were caused by a fungal infection and improved with treatment.
