I'm a 1st year medical student. Before joining medical I was so very motivated to be a doctor I gave my all to get a government medical college admission but now... I feel so depressed and worthless of myself and don't know what to do next to get back my motivated spiritđ Can anyone please help me out???
Reading is a myth...makes you think you know the material. INTERACT with the material in some way. Draw it, make flash cards, make a mind map, teach it to a classmate and best of all....write test questions then test yourself. Read the book âMake it Stickâfabulous read about the cognitive science of learning. Good luck but skim your reading and use your textbook like you would a resource..read with a mission to find an answer...go to class with something at stake to find.
Wow that's a lot motivational and helpful thing to say đthank you so muchđ
Itâs normal feeling 1st yr just for basics and not interesting at all u will regret and wonder if you took the right decision but believe me it gona worth it. For how to stay motivated you can put in ur study disc a paper with all ur dreams and u can took an inspiration story of doctor and put it too đđ
Thank you so much đ that cheered me and that's a great idea...Thanks againđ
It is absolutely normal. Medical school is hard! If it were easy, then everyone would be a doctor. It is overwhelming, and there are times when you think you can't do it
Ya even I thought that but when I see that my other classmates are able to cope up with the studies and I'm not able to score in the exams, it's getting harder and harder for me to concentrate
One more thing, you gotta love it, you have to want it for the right reasons; to help people, to do it out of the love of humanity. If it's not your thing, you should find something that is. Good luck and may you be blessed in the art of medicine.
Everyone learns differently. Visually, reading, everyone has trouble and trying to figurin out the bodies in general. It is overwhelming sometimes, if you have questions, ask; I'm more than happy to help.
Same feelings had been making my life difficult here...Shubhangi..Anatomy seemed like paralysing me everytime i went near my BD Chaurasia. But now as one of my friend told me and i follow that, i would love to share with you that trick.Suppose you want to read about cranial nerves. Before studying , sit for 5 mins and think about how their course and etc etc will be inside brain( you may be having wrong ideas, stil do that.Everytime you read something, make diagrams side by side.I know what frustrates you more is the mugging up part.Right.So whatever time and portion you read, do it with a zeal of learning.you will make it surely.
You see.....as i feel and as have been advised my seniors, we should study slowly and steadily for the quest of knowledge. When it comes to exams, there are particular questions from each chapter which are probable ones to be asked.Just practice those before exams and remain stress free, whatever the result may be.Everuthing that happens in our life has a reason. So be cool and enjoy this career.
Yup I do that but the difficult thing is the 'just before the exam preparation' it seems hectic at that time... I do study all the time but just before the exams my stress increases so much that I start panicing and quite very easily
It's normal in first year , happen with every student don't loose ur confidence, see motivational video on youtube like sandeep maheshwari he is a very big motivator that can very helpful for u, try it....from my suggestionđ
could you tell me how you concentrate in learning materials?.. i really stay reading for 2-3h and then i dont really remember what those things means, please tell me some tips to understand better than now.
Thank you for your suggestion I ll try to change the way of learning, God bless you !
You cannot read for that long. You might as well be watering your grass. You will remember very kittle. Study in small spurts of 20-30 minutes. Take a break and Interact with the material. Quiz yourself. Make up possible test questions.
No good thing comes easy.... the depression and all those negative energies is a sign that you can make it,if you put your mind to it.
If you are depressed, even if you suspect you may be....SEEK MEDICAL assessment. This is serious. It may be situational but you need to be evaluated. This is NOT a sign of your tenacity. Depression has an organic base. Go to student health and be evaluated. Some people on this site are giving you bogus advice. Seek evaluation!
Medicine has an outdated model of education....grinds you down. Do not wear this experience like a coat. Look for pockets of joy in your life. Form connections with people and know that this too will pass. You are not defined by the evaluation others have of you. Grades are more about how well you test...it is hard work but if you want it, it will be worth it. In the meantime find daily opportunities for things you can complete TODAY. Make your bed, wash your dishes, fold your clothes, go for a run. Your mind seeks completion no matter how small. Look for places in your life where you can feel accomplished, no matter how small. Small gains and keeping your wits about you may help to carry you through to this long and distant goal...relish in small bites of accomplishment.
I'm so very thankful for your suggestions... thank you so much đ I will start to seek for competition of my mind and head on towards my goal... thanks a lot
