Mastalgia

Breast pain (Mastalgia) is common in women and occasionally occurs in men, it is of two types , Cyclical and Non-cyclical. Cyclical type occurs due to the hormonal changes during the menstrual cycle and it comes in both breasts, usually the pain will be more in the upper part of the breast. Non-cyclical pain can occur due to large pendulous breast, inflammation or hormonal replacement therapy, it affects only one breast and the pain is variable in the location. Treatment of cyclical type is by Reassurance and Non-cyclical is by medications such as NSAIDS or local anesthesia on the trigger spot.
