Gallbladder Cancer

Gall bladder cancer is very rare even though it is very lethal. Adenocarcinoma is the most common type. Occurs late in life, having gall stones is a risk factor for developing cancer. Chronic salmonella typhi is also a risk factor. Evaluation is by US / CT. Treatment is palliative stenting of bile ducts or surgical resection for palliation only. Almost all patients die within one year.
