Sinusitis

This diagram shows how sinusitis occurs.Sinusitis is the inflammation of any paranasal sinus, the most common sinus to be involved in adults is maxillary, and ethmoid in children. Symptoms are fever, headache, pain over the involved sinus, and nose blockage. CT is used for evaluating. Treatment is composed of analgesia, decongestant, and saline irrigation. Remember that antibiotics are not given unless there is no improvement after 7 days of symptomatic treatment.
