The Kidney:kidneys are located on the posterior wall of the abdomen at approximately T12 to L3 on the Left side with the right side being slightly lower.Each kidney is surrounded by a fibrous outer capsule called the renal capsule with a renal artery and vein at the hilium.The Gonadal vein enters the Renal Vein at the left renal vein which is longer than the right renal vein.The main functions of the kidneys include Acid Base Balance , Water Removal , Erythropoiesis, Toxin Removal , Blood Pressure Control , Electrolyte Balance and Vitamin D Activation.
