Hi, Im not im medical school, im currently a 10th grader in high school and am taking health occupations classes because i want to become an ER Physician. I have passed Health team relations and am currently taking health science 1 and 2. i can graduate high school with my CNA Certification if i complete all my classes. I want to study to be an ER Physician in College and then possibly study farther to become a Truama Surgeon. Does any current ER Docs or Truama Surgeons have any advice for me?
Bear in mind that you’ll have to take the hardest test on the planet. Step 1.
Not an ER Doc but I’d suggest to take medical classes at your local community college while still in high school if possible. That’s what I’m doing, and I already have 30 college credit hours as a high school sophomore. It’s a great way to get a head start
Go be a volunteer in a hospital ot train as a nursing assistant or tech. Learn about the environment and about the plight os really sick people. Look beyond the medical issues and understand the impact of disease on the lives of these poor people who are profoundly ill. 70% of disease is lifestyle related....why is that? Keep looking...make yourself super healthy...be your own study. What is health? You need to really know heath before you can understand illness.
try to take all the scientific subjects you can such as biology, chemistry and so on, during summer volunteer in hospitals and contact doctors to shadow them they will be happy to tale you in, take BLS course, join any medical event near you, and keep working hard, ER is amazing if u enjoy it
