Ehlers–Danlos syndrome (EDS) is a group of genetically acquired disorders characterised by abnormal connective tissue leading to abnormal collagen synthesis.•Symptoms:Symptoms include stretchy skin,loose joints and abnormal scar formation. These can be noticed at birth or in early childhood. Complications may include aortic dissection, joint dislocations, scoliosis, chronic pain, or early osteoarthritis.•Cause: genetic mutation.•Diagnosis and Cure:DNA and biochemical studies can help identify affected individuals. Diagnostic tests include collagen gene mutation testing, collagen typing via skin biopsy, echocardiogram, and lysyl hydroxylase or oxidase activity.There is no cure for Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, but treatment can help you manage your symptoms and prevent further complications.
