An awful case of a crush injury

A middle-aged man was injured in a factory, when heavy machinery with which he was working fell on his left thigh resulting in Grade III B fracture Femur with 6 inches of bone loss, Sciatic nerve injury with > 4 inches loss, comminuted fracture patella with bone loss, composite soft tissue loss over lateral aspect of left thigh and his knee.The photo shows the leg after surgical debridement -showing extent of soft tissue loss at three different areas.Credit: Dr. N.
