Can someone explain to me which nerves are at risk of damage in thyroid surgery? Is either of the left or right recurrent laryngeal nerve more likely to get damaged ?

Right Recurrent laryngeal nerve(it lies close to bifurcation of right inferior Thyroid artery)

Both are at risk.... Depends on the surgery...Superior laryngeal nerve is also prone for damage...

For EENTs: right is commonly injured but for surgeons, left is commonly injured.
