The Circulation (III)
In which type of shock does cardiac output often increase?
Explanation
ExplanationIn hemorrhagic shock, anaphylactic shock, and neurogenic shock, the venous return of blood to the heart markedly decreases. However, in septic shock the cardiac output increases in many patients because of vasodilation in affected tissues and a high metabolic rate causing vasodilation in other parts of the body.
