Fluid overload (most often heart failure or end stages of CKD). Get a BNP, BMP, fluid and salt restrictions, echo if you don’t know their EF, possibly liver enzymes if it could be swelling related to low albumin? Possibly preeclampsia if the person is pregnant? Is it very acute swelling or chronic?
