I am a senior in high school here In Canada planning to pursue medicine in the future. I plan to take nursing as my undergrad and try to enter medical school after. Is nursing a good option in university to go to med school or is it better to major in sciences like biology or chemistry whoch are premed requirments? Im sorry if I said some wrong facts. Pls help. Thanks
Go straight into Medicine, do not try Nursing first as you will have many more extra years to firstly qualify as RN and then finally do all the required Med qualifications to do. This is only if you have the courage to pursue another career ,,Speaking from a Registered Nurse perspective
No it’s recommended you do biology chemistry or biochem. I’m also a senior in high school and I’m going to do biochem. Doing these will also help on the MCAT
So what careers can you have when you take those courses after 4 years. Just in case u didint get into med school?
The best chance you have is to take biochem as your pre-med course.
Biomedical sciences is not a bad choice either, but you obtain the best possible chance with biochemistry.
i am a senior in high school too, and i am going to study into medicine university because i think that medicine is sacred , being someone's hero, someone's hope is a wonderful thing... if we study hard we will be successful doctors in the future 🙂
im going to study general medicine, i dont know how to explain you we call it in this form in my country.
You sound like you do not know what you want to do? Get a job in the medical field. I was a nursing assistant then a ward secretary. Both allowed me to see what doctors and nurses do. Then after you have done that, choose. Do not choose till you have walked part of the health care path. If you choose medicine, don’t waste your time becoming a nurse. Nursing does not want “ wanna be” doctors. They are two very different and distinct paths. But choose carefully because they are very different roles.
